Detective James Holloway wakes in the lobby of a grand, empty hotel with no memory of arriving. All he knows is that he's there to find a missing woman, and that something is watching him. But he isn't alone. One by one, six strangers surface from the shadows of the hotel: an actress convinced that she's dreaming, a woman who trusts no one, a truck driver drowning inside a bottle, a religious woman clinging to her faith, and a man whose calm hides something far worse. None of them remember how they got there and none of them can find a door that leads out.
